Classes & Living History Experiences in a variety of different 19th-century skills are offered throughout the year at Genesee Country Village & Museum. Coopering, blacksmithing or making cheese are just a few of the immersive opportunities the museum can provide to teens and adults. Most are single day experiences, but multi-day classes and mini-apprenticeships are also available. Living History Experiences also make wonderful gifts!

"The days I spent at the blacksmith workshop were amazing. I felt like I went back in time...I would recommend this to anyone who likes working with their hands and who is not afraid of getting dirty. It was just great."

"Jerry is not only a skilled cooper but a first class teacher and guide. His friendly, patient demeanor made the experience a true pleasure to participate in. I certainly found out that coopering is not the easiest trade to learn but somehow Jerry managed to impart that knowledge."
—Gary Rog, Coopering Experience participant

"Taking part in day-long experiences; learning about and actually using the cooking techniques, equipment, receipts, ingredients, and technology of the early to mid-1800s; dressed in costume and moving through the kitchens and village as if I were actually living in another era; adds up to the best of immersion, hands-on experiences...No wonder I keep coming back to the wonderful Genesee Country Village every year for yet more experiences."
