Genesee Country Village & Museum offers two different types of programs for children —Summer Sampler and Earth Camp. Summer Sampler has a historical flavor, while Earth Camp emphasizes the environment. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff members run these programs to provide safe, supervised experiences for children. Both programs mix fun, hands-on learning and creativity. Children enjoy our programs so much, many return year after year and also become active participants in many of the museum's special events. Give your children a gift they'll remember for years to come-a trip back in time! The museum's Summer Sampler program, with expanded offerings this year, provides opportunities for children ages 8 and older to experience and learn about various aspects of 19th-century life in the Genesee Country. This year's offerings include everything from quilting and basket making to games, theater and gardening. New programs this year include Year 4 of Living a Long Time Ago and Historic Fiction Comes to Life. On the first day of Summer Sampler, youngsters receive a loan of period clothing, which becomes their outfit for the week. Each weeklong Summer Sampler class takes place Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the first sessions beginning the week of July 7 and the last sessions beginning the week of Aug. 18. The cost is $150 for members and $200 for nonmembers. Busing and extended care options are available. |
