Throughout the year Genesee Country Village & Museum hosts a variety of special events, from weekly authentic 19th-century baseball to a September fireworks show like no other. The July Midsummer Fest offers an evening of casual entertainment with mellow, spicy jazz combined with wine and other delicious fare. Civil War weekend beckons to many in July with roll of the drum and thunder of artillery. Thousands enjoy the August Laura Ingalls Wilder Days, with its fun for kids and a chance to meet a cast member from the hit 1970s TV series.
The October Agricultural Society Fair offers all the spectacle of an old-time country fair with prize chickens, blue ribbon pies and all the farm produce you could want. With the falling leaves comes the Spirits of the Past tours and as the flakes blanket the village in white, it’s time for Yuletide in the Country. Reserve a space on one of the many tours and enjoy the festivities of the season.
Unless otherwise noted, all programs take place during regular museum hours. Additional fees may apply for some programs. From June through September, the museum offers a variety of daily village walks, talks and 19th-century activities - these are listed on the museum day sheet. The Genesee Country Nature Center hiking trails are open year round for walking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Call (585) 538-6822 for more information.
