Story Walk came to Genesee Country Museum in 2013, an outdoor, family activity that combines reading and walking.
It invites families to walk a path lined with pages from a child’s picture book, reading as they walk along. The story progresses as they walk and enjoy the beauty of the trail.
Currently selected is The Salamander Room, written by Anne Mazer and illustrated by Steve Johnson.
Twelve sign-pages tell the story of a Brian, a young boy who wants to make a pet of a little orange salamander.
Visitors proceed through a native habitat of salamanders as the story unfolds.
The endeavor was completed by museum volunteer Bethany Annal as a Girl Scout Gold Award project.
Except for special events,
GCVM is now CLOSED
for the season and will
re-open May 13, 2017.
