Genesee Country Village & Museum offers two different guided tours. Each tour satisfies specific New York State learning standards and includes hands-on opportunities for students. Tours are 2-3 hours in length. Enrichment Activities can be added to enhance your students’ visit.
19th-Century Sampler Tour--Students travel through a century of American life while they visit 6 historic buildings. During their tour, students compare and contrast the homes and lives of people from the beginning to the end of the 1800s. Stops include:

Country, Town and Trades Tour--Students are introduced to a variety of work performed by people in a 19th-century community. They learn about the trades and the professionals in a village and how people in the past relied on one another for products and survival. This program links well with Common Core modules on Colonial Towns & Townspeople, Interdependent Roles of Colonial Times and Westward Expansion. Stops may include:

This one-of-a-kind interdisciplinary program traces the evolution of winter holiday celebrations in America through the 19th century, with special emphases on the contributions of various cultural groups. Historic buildings decorated to period are staffed by museum educators who help students understand the cumulative and changing nature of holiday observances. Students are invited to join in holiday activities during their visit. Activities can include:

Designed for older students, this physical tour will have students expend excess energy as they perform hands-on activities at 7 of our historic buildings. Activities can include:
